A historic plantation home burned to the ground in Lady’s Island’s Pleasant Point neighborhood on Sunday evening, photos and drone footage posted on Facebook show.
One of the home’s owners, Stephanie Guest, posted a message on the social media site just before 6 p.m. thanking those who had sent messages amid her family’s loss.
“Thank you to everyone for the kinds offers and words. We have everything we need right now. We have a place to sleep and dinner for tonight. We lost all of our possessions but we are all safe and thankful for that,” the post reads.

The Lady’s Island/St. Helena Fire District responded to the blaze, according to fire official Scott Harris.
“This is going to be a long process,” Harris said via text Sunday night.
A property listing on the Zillow website says the 7,800-square-foot home was built in 1929.
The website says the home on the Beaufort River was listed for sale in June for $1.7 million.
