Deputies saw a gun. Now a Hilton Head man faces cocaine trafficking, weapons charges
A Hilton Head man faces cocaine trafficking and weapons charges after deputies saw a gun between his feet when they approached the car he was in Sunday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
Tyler Wimbush, 24, was sitting in the car with a woman at Cordillo Courts & The Hedges apartments on Cordillo Parkway about 12:45 a.m. when deputies on foot patrol approached, the report said. The deputies saw the gun and detained Wimbush.
Deputies found 10 baggies of cocaine, collectively weighing about 13.2 grams, and a “bluish pill” in his pants pocket, the report said.
Wimbush was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center at 3 a.m. Sunday and was still there Monday afternoon, according to the jail log. His bond is $15,000 for cocaine trafficking and $10,000 for being in possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Trafficking cocaine is a felony in South Carolina. A trafficking charge comes when a suspect has 10 or more grams of cocaine.
