A Bluffton woman was arrested Friday after officers saw her drunkenly punch her mother repeatedly in the back of her head at a community pool, according to a Bluffton Police Department report.

A bystander pulled the woman off her mom as officers arrived, the report said. It did not provide a location for the pool.

Officers said they noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the alleged attacker. They also said she had trouble keeping her balance, was slurring her words, and cursing loudly at her mother and calling her an alcoholic, the report said.

The woman was charged with public disorderly conduct due to her “gross intoxication” and “being loud and boisterous in a public location,” the report said.

The mother did not press charges.
