Report: Man had more than $1k stolen from him in a Hilton Head restaurant bathroom

A man had more than $1,000 stolen from him while he was in a Hilton Head Island restaurant’s bathroom Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

The incident happened about 1:20 a.m. at The Big Bamboo on North Forest Beach Drive, the report said.

Three men entered the bathroom and knocked on the stall door the victim was in, the report said. When the victim exited the stall, his wallet fell out of his pants pocket to the floor and the $1,300 cash that was inside of it slid out.

As the victim bent down to pick up the wallet and cash, one of the men that had come into the bathroom grabbed it, the report said.

The report said the victim told the man to give him his money back and tried to grab it from his hands, ripping one of the $100 bills in the process.

The man told the victim, “You better get out of here before I kick your a--,” the report said.

The victim left the bathroom but followed the man and his friends to the parking lot to confront him again, the report said. The man threatened the victim and left with his money.

The victim told deputies he didn’t want to press charges, but does want to get his money back, the report said.
