A Hilton Head fueling station employee steals thousands in cash and money orders, police say

A speedway worker stole more than $6,000 in money orders and cash from the Hilton Head Speedway located at 421 William Hilton Parkway, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report states.

A district manager discovered the missing money when it received receipts from the bank on Thursday, the report states.

Surveillance video showed the employee taking more than a $1,000 in cash from the business on Feb. 28. It also showed the employee printing out more than $4,000 in money orders on that same day.

The manager told police the employee quit on February 29 before the missing funds were discovered.

The manager asked to pursue Breach of Trust charges against the employee.

The report states deputies would start the process for an arrest warrant for the employee.
