This is how a man was caught with a meth pipe at Bluffton’s Courthouse, police say

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies noticed something odd in a bag rolling through the x-ray machine at Bluffton’s Magistrate Court building on Thursday, a police report states.

Upon further inspection the deputies discovered a browned out glass pipe and a vial containing a crystallized looking substance.

The owner of the bag was “sweating profusely” following the discovery, a deputy noted in the report.

When asked, the man stated the substance was meth. He told police the substance was old and he forgot it was in the bag.

A test of the substance also concluded it was meth.

The man also told police he was at the courthouse to take his son to court.

The son told police he had no knowledge that his father had the drugs on him.

A deputy read the man his Miranda rights multiple times as he had trouble following the recitation, the report states.
