This Hilton Head woman died 43 years ago but tech at the time couldn’t ID her killer
A 50-year-old Hilton Head Island woman was killed 43 years ago but there are still no suspects in connection with her death, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Dorothy Kay Olbert was found dead outside her vehicle near the back gate of Shipyard Plantation around 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 4, 1975, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Her husband reported her missing around midnight, concerned that she hadn’t come home from her church meeting yet.
Olbert died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, according to the release. There was no apparent motive for her murder and she didn’t have any enemies.
Technology available at the time was not able to tie anyone to the crime, though several interviews were held and evidence found at the scene were collected.
