A teenager is facing charges after a shooting outside a Summerville movie theater Saturday night sent a man to the hospital.

Ryan Schwein, 18, of Goose Creek, was arrested early Sunday and charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and attempted murder.

Summerville Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at Regal Azalea Square Stadium 16 about 9:50 p.m., according to a post on the department’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Warrants in the case allege Schwein and another man were in a vehicle at the back of the theater for a drug deal when Schwein demanded the man’s wallet and cellphone, reported the Summerville Journal Scene.

The newspaper said the man thought it was a joke and laughed, but Schwein reportedly pulled out a gun.

The man’s girlfriend also was in the vehicle, reported WCBD News 2. Schwein is said to have threatened that he would “shoot your girl,” WCBD reported.

There was a struggle over the gun, and the man was shot in the bicep, according to Live 5 News.

One person was transported to a local hospital, the police department posted.

Schwein was being held Monday afternoon at the Berkeley County Detention Center. Bond had not been set.

Information about the gunshot victim was not available.
