What they found in a fired worker’s office sent these Bluffton workers fleeing

A Bluffton business was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after what appeared to be a homemade firework was found in the office of a fired worker.

The incident was reported around 12:40 p.m. at Sign Pro Plus on Burnt Church Road, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s office report.

An employee at the business told a deputy that another employee found the item while cleaning out the office, the report said. The business was evacuated.

A deputy wrote in the report that the device was slender and round with a fuse. It appeared to be coated in tape and looked like a “large type of firework,” but had no markings. Additional deputies were called the scene and one verified that it was a home-made firework.

No injuries were reported.
