SUV crashes through a Bluffton apartment complex gym. One person hit
An SUV crashed through the Avalon Shores fitness center and hit someone inside shortly before 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Bob Bromage.
The person inside the gym who was hit was transported to a hospital by Beaufort County EMS, Bromage said.
Photographs from the scene show the vehicle sitting on top of a fallen palm tree, facing away from a hole in the exterior wall of the complex’s fitness center.
After the crash, fireworks could be heard near the scene which appeared to be unrelated to the incident.
Initial real-time traffic information from the South Carolina Highway Patrol showed a crash in the area that resulted in injuries. The crash was closed in their online system just before 9:30 p.m.
No information on any related arrests, if there was one, was immediately available Tuesday night. No one was booked into Beaufort County Detention Center between the time of the crash and about 9:30 p.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash but could not immediately be reached for comment.
