Pedestrian hit by car in Bluffton, hospitalized in Savannah
An adult male was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah by ambulance Thursday morning after he was struck by a vehicle.
The victim was struck around 9:40 a.m. on Malphrus Road near Lowes, according to Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
A 2018 Toyota Camry was turning left off Bluffton Parkway onto Malphrus Road when the vehicle hit the pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk, according to Lance Cpl. Matthew Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The highway patrol is leading the investigation into the collision. No charges or citations have been filed as the investigation continues, Southern said.
Southern was unable to provide information on the victim’s condition.
