These pant-stuffing thieves walked out of a Bluffton store with over $1,500 in clothing

Three men got away with over $1,500 in clothing from a Bluffton store after they allegedly stuffed the items in their socks.

What’s more, they are known to the clothing company, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. They even have their own nickname, the report said.

The theft was reported around 2:15 p.m. at the Banana Republic Factory Store at Tanger 2 Outlets. A manager of the store said she saw three men enter the business and walk around the store. She said the three picked up items and took them to other sections of the store and left them. The three then took different items into fitting rooms and came out with fewer items, the report said.

When employees checked the fitting rooms after the men left, no items had been left behind. Then they discovered 37 polo shirts had been stolen. They had a combined value of $1,569.63.

The manager told a deputy that three men who looked similar to the suspects have been going up and down the East Coast targeting Banana Republic stores.

“The three gentlemen were nicknamed the Booster Socks because they would take items, roll them up and stuff them into their long pants,” the report said.

A deputy reviewed surveillance footage and saw the three men walk out of the store.

“I observed the bottom of their pants appeared fatter and possibly stuffed with polos,” a deputy wrote.

No arrests were listed in the report.
