Man sold drugs next to a Hilton Head park, Sheriff’s Office says. Now he’s behind bars

Following a months long investigation, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 25-year-old Hilton Head Island resident on drug and gun charges Friday morning, a Sheriff’s Office release said.

Executing a search warrant on the Great Barracuda Lane residence of Alan Garcia-Soni, investigators found cocaine, MDMA, marijuana and two handguns, one of which had been reported stolen. The other handgun had its serial number removed, the release said.

There were multiple warrants for Garcia-Soni’s arrest, which were served during a traffic stop before the search warrant was carried out, according to the release. He was charged with six counts of sale and distribution of marijuana and six counts of sale and distribution of marijuana within a half mile of a school, public playground or park. Garcia-Soni’s residence is within a half mile of Barker Field, the release said.

He was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he was detained with out incident, the release said.

Upon completing their search of Garcia-Soni’s residence, additional charges were filed against him, according to the release, including Possession of a Stolen Handgun, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Possession with intent to Distribute a Schedule I Drug (MDMA), Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine.

No bond had been set for Garcia-Soni on any of the charges he faces as of late Friday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office said.
