A Hilton Head Island woman was arrested on Thursday and faces charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 2nd degree, according to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Genesis Andreina Labrador-Orozco, 25, is accused of offenses between July 1 and Oct. 17, 2017, on Hilton Head Island.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Col. Bill Neill said the investigation has been ongoing since October. Second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor is a Class C felony in South Carolina, Neill said. If convicted, Labrador-Orozco could face up to 20 years in prison.

Neill said the Sheriff’s Office does not plan to release the age of the victim.

“Of course, when you have allegations of this type that are made, ... the investigators have the victim forensically interviewed,” Neill said. “And that was done in this case.”

Neill explained forensic interviewers are specially trained in “the area of sexual abuse against children” and work with victims to verify and substantiate information during investigations.

Labrador-Orozco was booked at the Beaufort County Detention Center and is being held on a $20,000 bond, according to jail records.

As of 3:45 p.m. Friday, she still remained in jail.
