Dad tries to pick up child from Bluffton daycare. The problem, police say? He was drunk
A Bluffton man was charged with driving under the influence after he allegedly tried to pick his child up from a daycare Monday while drunk.
The incident was reported at Lowcountry Day Preschool on Red Cedar Street after an employee called police and said there was an intoxicated man inside the the preschool trying to take his child home, according to a Bluffton Police Department report.
When an officer arrived the employee said the man arrived in his pickup truck smellingof alcohol and appeared to be “very grossly intoxicated.”
An officer asked the man to step over to a patrol vehicle so he could administer a sobriety test. As the officer prepared the test, the man allegedly said he was drunk and “admitted to having two glasses of wine.” The man then failed the test.
He was then taken to the Law Enforcement Center where he blew a .30 on a breathalyzer before he was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
