Somebody stole these from Bluffton’s Lowe’s. (They could have driven them off the lot)
Security camera footage footage from Dec. 12 shows a suspect pulling his SUV to the front of Lowe’s on Malphrus Road in Bluffton and getting to work.
It would take that person just five minutes to steal more than $2,000 dollars worth of equipment, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
Footage shows the suspect backing a trailer toward some riding lawnmowers at 10:37 p.m. The suspect leans down near one of the mowers then pushes it onto the trailer. The thief does the same thing with a second mower, then leaves the area at 10:42 p.m.
Lowe’s contacted the Sheriff’s Office about the incident four days later, according to the report.
The store reported a red Troybilt Pony 42-inch mower ($987.30) and a John Deere D105 42-inch mower ($1,236.90) were stolen.
The suspect also apparently damaged three padlocks, valued at $45 each.
Footage showed a person wearing dark clothing and light-colored shoes, driving a light-colored vehicle, “likely a Chevrolet Trailblazer,” according to the report.
The case remains under investigation.
