After a woman was groped, a fight started at this Hilton Head late-night hotspot

Two men were charged with assault and battery after a fight early Sunday at a Hilton Head Island restaurant and bar, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies responded to Poseidon in Shelter Cove about 1:30 a.m. to an altercation that began on the dance floor, according to the report. The incident began after a man groped a woman who was dancing near the stage, the report said.

The woman, married to one of the men, told deputies “that she felt someone grab her butt.” She turned around and saw the other man standing there, and then said her husband “pushed the individual away and an altercation ensued.”

A Poseidon security guard near the stage said he saw both men throwing punches; security camera footage showed them “swinging and attempting to assault one another.”

Deputies asked both men if they wanted to press charges. Both said yes.

They were issued tickets for third-degree assault and battery.
