Beaufort County deputies are attempting to identify a person accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase $1,700 worth of items in Beaufort County and Walterboro.

The suspect used the card on Friday at the Bluffton Best Buy to purchase the items, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office release. He then used the card again at other stores in Bluffton and Walterboro.

According to a separate release, investigators discovered that the credit cards were stolen from members at two different health clubs between Thursday and Friday. One of the clubs was in Port Royal and the other was on Hilton Head Island.

Both theft victims reported that they had left their clothing containing wallets with cash and credit cards unsecured in locker rooms.
