A Shipyard Plantation man said he met a stranger at a restaurant last month, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report says.

He learned the man was “down on his luck” and homeless at the time. He decided to open his home to the man to help him get back up on his feet.

After a couple days he realized the man was acting strange, the report states. He called Shipyard Plantation and asked for help in removing the man from his home.

The morning after the man was removed from his home, he realized his computer was missing, the report states.

The man said he waited several days to contact police because he was trying to find the man’s last name. He found it when a friend showed him a mug shot of the man from a previous arrest.
