“All I ask is don’t steal,” Okatie man tells friend before theft, police say

An Okatie man says a friend, who he allowed to stay at his house, stole several items, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

“All I ask is don’t steal from me and we will be good,” the Okatie man told the friend.

Not long after he saw some of his bedding in the friend’s vehicle, the report states. The man retrieved the bedding from the vehicle before asking the friend where his iPad was.

The friend hesitated before getting in the vehicle and driving away, the report states.

A pistol and the iPad were both missing from the residence, the report states.

The man told police he didn’t want the friend arrested but would like his stuff back.
