Cops didn’t find chips in this Pringles can. What they did find landed Hilton Head duo in jail.

It turns out that once you pop, you can stop — particularly when there aren’t any chips in your Pringles can and you’re behind bars.

A Hilton Head Island pair was arrested Tuesday evening after police found marijuana hidden in a Pringles canister outfitted with a false bottom, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report released Wednesday.

The duo, a man and a woman, were first reported to police by a security guard who smelled weed coming from their car parked near the Sea Pines Forest Preserve, the report said.

When deputies arrived, the pair admitted to smoking marijuana earlier, but said the didn’t have any left on their persons or in the car, according to the report.

But when police looked in the car’s center console, they found the Pringles can with the false bottom filled with weed, the report said.

They also found a BB gun, three unidentified pills, a marijuana grinder, a digital scale, and “a suitcase (with) several bongs,” according to the report.

The couple was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and could face additional charges if the pills found are identified as an illegal or controlled substance, the report said.

The car was towed and the pair was taken without incident to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
