Report: $15k in jewelry vanishes from Bluffton home
Jewelery valued at more than $15,000 — including a three-diamond engagement ring alone worth $7,000 — went missing from a Bluffton home earlier this week, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report released Thursday.
A Bluffton woman contacted deputies Monday afternoon to report that the engagement ring — along with a blue topaz bracelet, an onyx ring, and white gold wedding band encrusted with diamonds — had vanished from from her dining room table.
The woman was having kitchen work done around the time she suspected the jewelry disappeared. But the two employees of the contracting company working in the house denied seeing the valuables, the report said.
The workers “allowed (the woman) to check their work boxes and back packs” and “emptied their pants pockets and showed her they did not have their jewelry,” according to the report.
Deputies were unable to collect any fingerprint or DNA evidence, the report said.
