West Virginia man charged with indecent exposure on Sea Pines beach
A West Virginia man was charged with indecent exposure after he allegedly went without underwear while wearing shorts on a Sea Pines beach on Wednesday.
A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to Oyster Catcher Road around 3:45 p.m. after several witnesses reported a man was exposing himself on the beach, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
The witnesses identified the man who was interviewed by the deputy. The man said he rode his bicycle to the beach until he realized he could not get back into Sea Pines so he rode to the beach access point on Oyster Catcher Road and took a break in order to “refresh” himself.
The man admitted to the deputy that he was aware he was wearing shorts without underwear that may have allowed the exposure.
“When asked if he knew (he was) exposed, he replied yes. However, he stated he felt he was far enough away from everyone so it would not matter,” the report said.
He was charged with the misdemeanor and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
