This Lowcountry officer’s photo went viral for lending a hand
A Summerville man posted a photo of a North Charleston police officer on Wednesday morning that went viral online.
The officer pulled over to help an elderly man walk to the bus stop while carrying his bags for him, Garrod Collins wrote on Facebook.
Collins took a photo of the two men walking together to which Facebook users reacted over 5,500 times, left over 300 comments and shared over 7,400 times by Thursday afternoon. He left the hashtag #careabouteachother after his brief caption.
The City of North Charleston retweeted the photo, thanking Collins for posting.
“I just wanted people to see that we still have a lot of good ones out there,” he said, according to WCSC television station. “The City of North Charleston Police Department has taken a beating over the last few years. I just wanted the citizens to know the police still care.”
