Headed through Yemassee Friday night? Watch your driving, expect traffic checkpoints
The Yemassee Police Department and the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office will conduct two traffic safety checkpoints on Friday night.
One of them will begin at 8 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 17A and U.S. 21 at Hunt Street. The second, which also begins at 8 p.m., will be at the intersection of Yemassee Highway and I-95, according to a Yemassee Police Department Facebook post.
Information on how long the checkpoints will last was not released.
“The intent of this checkpoint is for officers to find drivers who are driving under the influence of alcohol or other illegal substances, improper and unsafe vehicle violations, and any other violation under South Carolina Law” Public Information Officer Matthew Garnes said.
