High-end holiday? Thief takes nearly $2,000 in alcohol from Hilton Head grocery
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators are attempting to identify a woman who allegedly stole $1,950 worth of alcohol from a Hilton Head Island grocery store.
The woman entered the Kroger on Shelter Cove Lane on Nov. 9 around 11:40 p.m. and was spotted walking back and forth in the store’s wine isle by video surveillance, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The woman was seen “manipulating the locked glass case where the expensive wine is stored,” the release said.
She then allegedly took two bottles of wine and two bottles of champagne before leaving the store.
The woman is described as an African American with a slender build and is between 30 and 40 years old, the release said. Her hair is either short or it was tucked beneath the hat she wore at the time of the theft.
