Hilton Head judge out of the running for SC Supreme Court appointment
The Honorable Carmen Mullen did not make the list of finalists to succeed retiring Chief Justice Costa Pleicones on the S.C. Supreme Court, the Post and Courier reports.
Mullen, a circuit court judge in Beaufort County, was interviewed by members of the South Carolina General Assembly’s Judicial Merit Selection Commission in Columbia on Tuesday morning, according to the Post and Courier.
Mullen was one of seven candidates to interview for the position.
The three finalists were Circuit Court Judge Diane Schafer Goodstein of Summerville; Administrative Law Court Judge Ralph King “Tripp” Anderson III of Columbia and Circuit Court Judge George C. James of Sumter. The General Assembly will elect one of them after hearings in early 2017.
