Report: Argument over light bulb leads to 911 call
An argument over a stolen light bulb allegedly escalated to threats for two Hilton Head Island neighbors Thursday evening.
A woman was changing a light bulb on her Tabby Trail home’s porch around 7 p.m. when a neighbor came up to her saying she had stolen it, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. The woman told her neighbor to leave more than once as the neighbor allegedly continued to argue about the light bulb, according to the report.
The woman went back into her house and allegedly heard the neighbor say, “Next time you knock on my door you will deal with my Glock.” When she opened her door again and asked if she just threatened her, the neighbor allegedly said, “Yes, I did. I have a Glock, and I will shoot you. You don’t want to (expletive) mess with me because I will (expletive) mess with you.” And with that, the woman went back inside and called 911, according to the report.
At first, the woman told deputies that her neighbor didn’t directly threaten her, but then later said that she did, according to the report. The neighbor said she hadn’t raised her voice or made any threats toward the woman and said she doesn’t own a gun or have one in her house, according to the report.
