12-year-old Savannah boy charged in shooting death of 6-year-old
Police arrested a 12-year-old boy Nov. 9 in connection with the October death of a 6-year-old boy, according to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.
The boy was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the Oct. 6 shooting of the younger boy on West 50th Street and was transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
On Oct. 6, police found the 6-year-old boy shot outside a residence on the 800 block of West 50th Street. The injured child was transported to Memorial University Medical Center, where he died.
The victim and the suspect were not previously acquainted, according to police. Police did not release either of the boys’ names.
The case remains under investigation, according to the police department.
