3:45 update: Crash cleared on Highway 170 in Bluffton

3:45 update: The accident has been cleared, and traffic on Highway 170 in Bluffton is once again free flowing.

Just as rush-hour and weekend traffic are about to begin, a crash has blocked all westbound lanes on Highway 170 in Bluffton, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause is an accident at the intersection of Highway 170 and Sun City Boulevard. The Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists to use care and expect delays.

The accident was reported at about 2:30 p.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is on the scene of the crash, which involves a least two vehicles, said Lt. Daniel Allen of the Sheriff’s Office.

Bluffton fire also is on the scene.
