Veterans hiring event coming to Port Royal

Veterans Employment Training Services will host a hiring event for military veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Amvets Post 70 in Port Royal.

The event will include resume services, career mentoring, self-employment and entrepreneur mentoring, VA benefits review and counseling, training and education opportunities, and employment opportunities.

Veterans wishing to participate should register for the free event ahead of time at www.vetswork.net/veterans.

The organization is led by veterans and was founded in 2014 by Derrick Hein, a retired Army veteran, according to the organization’s website. The group’s focus is on helping veterans, especially younger veterans, gain the skills they need to find jobs.
