Parris Island to host change of command ceremony
Brig. Gen. Austin E. Renforth will take command of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on Friday, June 10.
Parris Island’s current commander, Brig. Gen. Terry V. Williams, will relinquish command to Renforth during a ceremony at 2 p.m. at the depot’s All Weather Training Facility.
Renforth comes to the depot after serving as the commanding general of Training Command in Quantico, Va., according to Marine Corps spokesperson Capt. Greg Carroll.
Williams, who commanded the depot for approximately two years, will go on to serve as assistant deputy commandant of plans for the Marine Corps’ Installations and Logistics division, according to Carroll.
“It is standard procedure for general officers to serve a two year tour,” Carroll wrote in a news release. “Movement of general officers and follow-on assignments are decided by Marine Corps leadership.”
