Wounded Heroes Fishing Classic slated for April 3-4

The Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes will host its inaugural 2016 Wounded Heroes Fishing Classic at Hampton Lake beginning Sunday.

The two-day event will kick off with food, live music, a silent auction and a live auction at 5 p.m. at the Hampton Lake’s Amenity Center. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $30 and include food, soft drinks and craft beer.

A catch-and-release bass tournament will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. The tournament is limited to 200 participants and will be held at Hampton Lake.

Proceeds will benefit Birdies for the Brave, a PGA Tour-supported initiative that helps local nonprofits provide support to military members, veterans, and their families ranging from financial aid, rehabilitation services, counseling and housing to educational scholarships and career development.
