A group of elite Marines on a 770-mile march for comrades killed in a helicopter crash last year passed through Beaufort and Jasper counties on Wednesday.
Fourteen Marine Raiders are splitting up the hike from Navarre, Fla., to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Seven Marines and four Army National Guard members were killed on March 10, 2015 when an Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed during a training mission off the Florida coast.
On their way through the area, the group toured Ridgeland gunmaker Daniel Defense and later posted photos to social media of their trip along S.C. 170.
