California squadron training at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort
A squadron of Marine Corps aviators and their F/A-18 Hornet jets from California have begun a month of training at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort.
The unit is the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron101 and is based at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
The unit is part of the Marine Corps Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
The naval aviators will have classroom instruction and field carrier landing practice at the Beaufort air station. They will also conduct carrier qualification training aboard a Navy ship.
The aviators are receiving training with the Hornet jets before they are assigned to their first operational Hornet squadron.
