Sheriff’s Office investigates Burton shooting

A man was shot today in Burton after an argument in the front yard of a friend’s house, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded to 16 Wildcat Lane around 1 p.m. today to find a 25-year-old male with a non-life threatening grazing gunshot wound.

The victim told deputies he was visiting a friend when the suspect approached him in the front yard. The two argued, and the suspect pulled a handgun and shot him, before fleeing on foot, the release said.

The suspect is a black male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, the release said.

The incident is under investigation.
