9 stars who will help Beaufort Film Society shine
After 10 years of bringing international films to the Lowcountry, the Beaufort Film Society has announced a board of advisers to lead its endeavors.
“By creating a board of advisers comprised of highly respected entertainment industry professionals, all with Beaufort connections, we think this will open doors and create new opportunities,” said Ron Tucker, Beaufort Film Society president, in a news release.
The board will include nine members of the film industry:
- Actress Blythe Danner
- Filmmaker Julie Dash
- Producer Jonathan Flora
- Sound engineer Eugene Gearty
- Actress Andie MacDowell
- Graphic artist Topher Maraffi
- Film editor Craig McKay
- Actor Michael O’Keefe
- Actress Dr. Marlena Smalls
Beaufort Film Society is already gearing up for its 11th annual event — the 2017 Beaufort International Film Festival — to be held Feb. 15-19.
Last year’s festival drew over 700 entries from 66 countries and more 12,500 people, including 77 filmmakers, according to the release.
