Beaufort County to buy new Bookmobile

The Beaufort County Council approved the purchase of a new Bookmobile earlier this week.

The library on wheels is expected to hit the streets by next spring, according to a recent county release.

The 26-foot-long vehicle, which costs about $144,000, will have space for 2,500 books and four internet work stations.

Beaufort County’s first Bookmobile program was launched in 1958. The last Bookmobile was retired in 1993.
