Confronted by strangers, a young Burton boy turned to his grandmother

The little boy wasn’t fooled when strangers asked him to come to their truck Sunday. He went back inside and told his grandmother, who called the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

A 7-year-old boy was in a front yard of a Pinewood Circle home in Burton around 7 p.m. when a blue truck pulled up, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. In the truck were two men approximately 20 years old, the report said. One of the men was described as bald. They tried to call him over, the report said.

When the boy told the men “no,” they told him they would come back, the grandmother told the Sheriff’s Office. The truck was later spotted in the neighborhood, the report said. but did not try to contact the boy again.

Neither the grandmother nor the boy know who the men were, the report said.

No arrests were made in the incident.
