Beaufort waterfront vigil to honor Orlando victims

Beaufort’s Henry C. Chambers Waterfront park will be the scene of a vigil Tuesday night honoring those killed and wounded in the Orlando, Fla., night club shootings.

The 30-minute vigil begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Welcoming Congregation Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Beaufort with the help of other local clergy.

The program “will include singing, prayer, an honoring of those who died and a call to sow seeds of love and compassion,” a congregation news release said.

“In the midst of such pain and sorrow, we are called both to honor our grief and to strengthen together our commitment to lives of love and care,” the Rev. Kevin Tarsa said in the release.

Participants may bring flowers to the vigil. Extra flowers will be available there.
