Port Royal Elementary School’s pre-K builds 2 lending libraries
This past year, the pre-kindergarten class at Port Royal Elementary School created two lending libraries for children’s books.
Students at the project-based school are tasked with identifying a real-world problem and finding a solution for it. Anne Glaze’s class noticed the lending library in Port Royal lacks children’s books.
The students created and sold a phonebook with the students’ drawings of notable places around Port Royal. They were able to build two Little Free Lending Libraries in front of the school from the donations received. One library has picture books and the other holds chapter books for children.
First Books of Beaufort added another 30 new books to the lending library. The organization held monthly story hours at the school and gave each 4-year-old nine books during the year.
