Suspect charged with attempted murder in Beaufort gas station shooting

A 62-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after a person was shot Friday morning in a parking lot next to a busy intersection in Beaufort.

Isaiah Gadson Jr turned himself in to police Friday afternoon, according to a release from the Beaufort Police Department. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Police say the incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. in the parking lot of the Exxon gas station at the corner of Boundary and Hogarth streets. Officers found one victim with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Gadson and the victim knew each other and got into a verbal altercation in the parking lot prior to the shooting, the release said.

The victim was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury, the release said.
