Dragonboat Beaufort race registration open

Registration is now open for Dragonboat Beaufort. The boat races will be held in the Beaufort River in front of Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park Sept. 2-3.

On race day, 20-person teams will paddle in three races competing for medals. Awards will be given in several categories, including best T-shirt design, best tent, best team spirit and top fundraisers.

Registration is $750 for a local community team or $650 for a cancer-survivor team. Additionally, each paddler must commit to raise $50. Out-of-town teams are $950 and have no individual fundraising requirement.

Money raised goes to address needs of Beaufort County cancer patients.
