Sizzling: Fillin’ Station rethinks steak dinner decision
Steak night is returning to the Fillin’ Station.
With a brief post on its Facebook page Monday, the Lady’s Island bar announced the return of its popular dinner. Steaks will be served again on Fridays beginning June 3.
Owners Mark and Rita Wolfe had decided in March to end their nightly dinners — Tuesday night crab legs, Thursday night pork chops and Friday steak — citing the amount of work.
But they are bringing back steak, with some new rules:
▪ Orders must be in and paid by Wednesday.
▪ Cost is now $15 per plate.
▪ There will be no to-go orders.
Cooking begins at 4 p.m. Friday and will continue until about 9 p.m., the Facebook post said. Karaoke also returns and will start at 8 p.m.
A close friend of the Wolfes asked that the steak night be reinstated, and the Wolfes complied. The new workflow should cut down on complaints from waiting customers and allow Mark to know how many steaks he’s cooking ahead of time.
There are no plans to resume the other specialty nights, Mark said, adding that customers have been understanding.
“They still missed the steak night, but they understood why,” he said.
