Highway Patrol releases descriptions of vehicle involved in Okatie man’s death
Highway Patrol investigators are looking for a BMW 3-series in connection with the hit-and-run death of a 45-year-old bicyclist who died May 13.
A patrol news release issued early Thursday said the four-door sedan was manufactured been 1993 and 1999. The exact color is unknown, but the car may have front bumper and undercarriage damage, the release said.
Stanley Morton, 45, died after two vehicles struck him as he rode a bicycle on S.C. 170 near River’s End Road around 11 p.m., according to Highway Patrol spokesman Lance Cpl. Matthew Southern.
The patrol originally said Morton was struck by three vehicles but now believes only two were involved, Southern said Thursday.
The driver of one of the two vehicles is known to investigators, and no charges had been filed as of Thursday, Southern said.
The investigation is being handled by the patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
