Diver drowns in apparent accident at Broad River Boat Landing
A man died Saturday afternoon in an apparent diving accident, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies arrived at the Broad River Boat Landing just after 2 p.m. after the drowning was reported. The diver was retrieved from the water and taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is planned at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston on Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that so far, the death appears accidental.
The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
