A 40-year-old Lady's Island man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly beating his girlfriend and threatening her life, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
James Kemmerlin was charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to the jail log. He remained at the Beaufort County Detention Center on Friday with bond set at $30,000, according to Beaufort County court records.
Deputies were called to Kemmerlin's Flora Circle home about 9:30 p.m., while the alleged assault was still in progress, Capt. Bob Bromage said Friday. An investigation revealed the suspect assaulted the victim, pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her following an argument.
