St. Helena man wanted in connection with two armed robberies caught after foot chase
A St. Helena man wanted in connection with two armed robberies was apprehended on Tuesday in Seabrook after deputies chased him down on foot.
Maurice Jenkins, 21, was wanted in connection with the April 21 armed robbery outside a residence on Club Road on Lady’s Island and an attempted armed robbery April 19 on Detour Road in Seabrook.
After receiving an anonymous tip that Jenkins was in the Detour Road area Tuesday afternoon, deputies spotted him, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office release.
Jenkins saw them and ran toward Seglaw Lane. They were able to catch him on Garrett Small Road, the release said.
No one was injured during the chase.
Jenkins was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center and served with two warrants for armed robbery and possession of a weapon in the commission of a violent crime, the release said.
