Ridgeland man charged with pointing gun at child’s mother

A 25-year-old Ridgeland man was arrested in Bluffton on Saturday after allegedly pointing a gun at the mother of his child, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Dominique Nelson was charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and pointing and presenting a firearm.

The victim called the Sheriff’s Office at about 3:30 p.m., to report that she and another man were driving when Nelson began following them, pulled alongside and pointed a gun at them, Capt. Bob Bromage said. The suspect did not fire any shots and was arrested without incident after deputies pulled him over at the intersection of Bluffton Road and U.S. 278.

Nelson posted a $40,000 bond on Sunday and was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center.
