Beaufort man sentenced to 20 years in burglary case
A Beaufort man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday after a jury took only 16 minutes to find him guilty of burglarizing a Shell Point home in 2015.
Adrian Jenkins, 34, was found guilty of first-degree burglary following a two-day trial at the Beaufort County Courthouse, according to a 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office news release.
The sentence was handed down by Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen, the release said.
A surveillance camera caught Jenkins entering a Peacock Run home Sept. 17, 2015. He took dozens of video games, a game system and a flat-screen television.
“Adrian Jenkins is the definition of a career criminal and deserved to be removed from society,” Hunter Swanson, assistant solicitor and career criminal team prosecutor, said. “He is well-known to law enforcement throughout Beaufort County.”
Jenkins’ prior convictions include two burglaries, a motor vehicle break-in, strong-armed robberies, shoplifting and drug conspiracy, the release said.
